Peony formerly regarded as Paeonia hybrida, afterwards classified by Hong DY as independend species as Paeonia intermedia.

It has Tuberous and pink to red flowers, closely related to Paeonia tenuifolia. Extremely hardy but one must avoid frost damage when too early emerging in maritime climate by planting it against North facing wall, same as for P tenuifolia. Plants originate from Altai.
