This easy growing peony from Georgia is better known as P.ruprechtiana or P. caucasica ssp. ruprechtiana.Typical for this species is the strange red foliage  which contrasts very well with the pink-red flowers. It grows well on neutral to alkaline soils with plenty of organics. As woodland plant it is most suited for shade or half shade and it tollerates more moist than Mediteranian species.
