This P insigne Montanum has been top item in former orchid hystory end 19 th. century around 1885 . In the meantime it is lost as most supply of P insigne came from wild origin without this type. The offered plant is remarkable hardy and it was rediscoverded in a front door garden of an old lady on the island Madeira. Instead of small pending flowers as has the type plant, this one has huge, to 13 cm across flowers on upright thick dark maroon stems. Temps as low as - 1  ° C , and ease of culture.
