half mature

A wonderful white flowered big peony from Georgia, gatthered seeds from late J. Archidbald, JJA 748.107, named by him as P. wittmanniana Bakuriana.

To distinguish from P daurica macrophylla ( steveniana ) by always shiny light green to coppery - leaf surface and weekly hairy and thus not greyish leaf undersites. Also typical lines of hairs on sepals . Flowers similar, carpels mostly tomentose instead of naked as for P. daurica ssp macrophylla.
